Jim Campilongo + Busta Rhymes

The Jim Campilongo + Honeyfingers record, “Last Night, This Morning” is out officially now! We got a nice review from Vintage Guitar, you can check it out here.
Luca Benedetti and Jim did a great job on this one, I finally got to listen to it in a car and I think it sounds pretty fantastic. You can grab it from the iTunes store or Amazon.

We are playing a CD release show at Rockwood 2 on September 28th where we will play the entire record for you! Full band in tow! Pedal steel! Guitars! Bass and drums!

I also had the privilege of recording some guitar with rap legend, Busta-Rhymes. That was an unexpected and fun call, Busta was great to work with in the studio.

I am currently in Paris, playing the last Atomic Bomb Band show for the year at Jazz A Villette and getting ready for some much needed downtime where I hope to be recording some new music and finishing some Honeyfingers records!!

Hot Chip and David Byrne!

Last week, Sinkane headed to Portland to play Pick-A-Thon music festival. It was an eclectically curated, really amazingly run festival. They are a forward eco friendly, family friendly camping festival south of Portland. Everyone there was so accommodating and where else could I see bands like; Leon Bridges, Tinariwen, The Quebe sisters, and SHabbaz Palaces? We played twice in the weekend and I came home to New York and sat in with Hot Chip at Webster Hall on pedal steel and guitar for their encore. The second night they played, I ran into David Byrne and asked him to come and play percussion for the final encore song, “Dancing In The Dark”/”All My Friends”! It was a fun surprise to have David come back into the dressing room with me and see everyone’s faces as he followed me in.
Here is a link to a piece and some photos from the Hot Chip concerts.

Sinkane then got to play another Summerstage Production opening for Caribou at the East River Amphitheater. Caribou was absolutely incredible, such amazing musicianship, really great band. The crowd was there in full effect for us as well, and we played with the full 9 piece band. I am looking forward to getting some time to practice and relax! Here is a photo of the crowd!

Spring and Summer!

Im home from tour for a few more weeks and really looking forward to it!
There is so much stuff happening! I have a bunch of really fun gigs on pedal steel and guitar in New York and in Brooklyn, the Campilongo + Honeyfingers record has been mastered (it sounds amazing), and work on the Honeyfingers instrumental album is happening.

Sinkane will head to Terminal 5 in New York City, and we will be direct support for Toro Y Moi, and its going to be a great night.

Honeyfingers will dust it off, May 7th and perform the entire Ray Price album, “Night Life”, which is a steel guitar text book by the king, Buddy Emmons. I cannot wait to do this. We will have a special guest, Alex Hargreaves on fiddle and its going to be a great time. The other bands are playing iconic albums as well.

I am also going to head to Nashville for rehearsals with amazing singer, Jamie Lidell, in preparations for a show at Brooklyn Bridge Park on May 21st. There is going to be a marching band performing with us as well!!

I hope to see you out there!

Sinkane on World Cafe Live

After many months of making a joke about the ubiquitous “North East Winter Tour”, which is both cold and dangerous, we booked one. Cleveland, Toronto, Baltimore, Arden, North Hampton, New York (which ended up on the coldest night in NY in many years), Boston, Montreal, Burlington, Portland, and Portsmouth. Between the arctic wind, polar vortex, and freezing temperatures we found time for some winter hikes, good food, guitar shopping and a performance on World Cafe Live with David Dye.
I played both pedal steel guitar and regular guitar on the 4 song mini set with an interview with, Ahmed Gallab, in between songs.
