This past fall we played a wonderful concert at Royal Festival Hall in London for Meltdown festival curated by David Byrne.
I played pedal steel and guitar with Sinkane earlier in the week and we were performing as the Atomic Bomb Band featuring; David Byrne, Amadou and Miriam, Hot Chip, Moses Sumney,The Mahotella Queens and Charles Lloyd. We also had a guest choir of over 100 members to help us sing the last 2 songs, it was something special to be in that room. Sinkane had jsut finished an extremely long run in Europe and we were excited to finish up in London with this special event. Here is the full concert in HD!

Alexis Taylor @ Manhattan Inn 5/4
I met Alexis in London at the UK Onyeabor shows and was blown away after hearing him cover, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue”, during a soundcheck at the Barbican. We bonded over country music and he mentioned that on his new solo effort, “Awaits Barbarians”, he initially imagined pedal steel and we made plans to play this solo show that Domino Records had set up. The morning after our 2nd BAM show, and we met at the stage to gather our gear from night before and headed straight to an early morning rehearsal. Sarah Jones, who tours with Hot Chip, was on tour in the US with, New Young Pony Club, and joined us on drums.
The Manhattan Inn provided a BEAUTIFUL environment for Alexis’ beautiful ethereal voice and songs. It was a memorable experience as the packed house sat in quiet attention.
Here is a review of the show, and a video from his encore of a Hot Chip tune, and a Prince tune. Pretty awesome.
