I am going to be on tour A LOT this fall promoting, SINKANE’s new record that comes out this week! He has been getting all kinds of amazing press and I am looking forward to seeing what happens as we star the tour cycle. I am currently in London, to do a BBC6 radio session and then a Rough Trade In-Store, and then we are off to Berlin to start tour. It’s really exciting to be playing guitar AND pedal steel as we take this show on the road! For tour dates, check out the band’s website.
In the MEANTIME, my country band Honeyfingers just finished 4 days at The Rumpus Room studio recording Zephaniah’s originals, some covers for some EXCITING guests, and a bunch of instrumental stuff. It was an honor to be in the studio with these guys, Luca Benedetti, Jim Campilongo, Russ Meissner, Zephaniah O’Hora, Kelli Scarr, Dave Speranza, and Roy Williams. Here is a little taste….
I have been EXTREMELY fortunate to have played guitar on a run of shows last week with David Byrne, among many other incredible musicians. He writes about his experience performing the music of William Onyeabor, and I get a mention and photo bomb from none other than David Byrne!!!
Read about his experience here!
Well. That was pretty cool. I played guitar with David Byrne!
update:looks like they took the tonight show video down, but here is a clip from the first run of US shows at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
After months and months of extremely hard work, we played our first and maybe last run of US shows, as the Atomic Band featuring David Byrne, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Luke Jenner (The Rapture), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), Joshua Redman, Money Mark, The Lijadu sisters, and Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsytem, Museum of Love).
Our shows in the UK with Damon Albarn were amazing and this run of shows in the US were no different. Here is a review in the NY Times by writer Ben Ratliff, whose work i have greatly appreciated through the years!
